e-Learning Authoring Conference Lodging
On-Campus Lodging -- CC Inn Dorm, Apartments, and Dormitories
In response to the loud cry for an affordable conference on e-Learning, we
chose Colorado College because it offers excellent conference facilities and
the opportunity for attendees to take advantage of the on-campus lodging value.
You are also very welcome to join the 35% or so of our attendees who take
advantage of the good hotel and "Bed & Breakfast" values in the local area.
Either way, all meals are included.
CC Inn Dormitory
The CC Inn is a motel that has been converted to a dormitory. It is close
to Armstrong Hall (where all the sessions are located). Each room has
a small dorm bed with its own bathroom. Even better, each room has
air conditioning. There is wireless (but not wired) network access through
the college. Note that there is not a television, however. Here is a
link to a map showing the path from the inn to the location of the main
conference (Armstrong Hall) and the dining hall (Worner Hall):
http://tinyurl.com/ftdkt. The CC Inn is convenient but not very fancy.
It is the most cost-effective option, however. There are both single and double
occupancy options.

Apartments
These newer facilities have a feeling much more of apartments than the
traditional dorm room.
Your own room, shared common space
The multiple occupancy option comes with your own bedroom and shared common
areas including living room, kitchen, and bathroom. Most apartments have four
bedrooms, though you may luck out and end up in either a smaller apartment or
one with an empty room. The apartments are the only on-campus lodging option
with a television. There are also a few single "studio" apartments available
that have their own kitchen with a shared common bathroom nearby.

Apartments are comprised of one, two, three, or four bedrooms. Most have four
bedrooms. These bedrooms share one common area and bathroom.

Meals
Your registration fee includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner while attending the
conference. For breakfast and lunch, we will be eating in the college's
dining hall which has a variety of offerings and a full salad bar. Really, the
food is good. The two main conference dinners on Monday and Tuesday evenings
will be catered.
Meals are included for all attendees from dinner Sunday through lunch Wednesday.
For Preconference attendees staying on campus, meals start with dinner the
evening they check-in, either on Friday or Saturday. Preconferance attendees
staying off-campus receive lunch the day(s) they have preconference sessions
but do not receive other meals until dinner Sunday.
Campus recreational facilities
Attendees to The e-Learning Authoring Conference will have use of the
campus recreational facilities including tennis courts, racquetball courts,
jogging track and trail, weight and exercise room, gym, and swimming pool.
These facilities are on limited hours, however. For an overview of the campus,
see the
campus map.
Off-Campus Lodging Ideas
For those who want to spend the extra money and stay in a more traditional
hotel, we encourage you to make your own arrangements. Even if you are staying
"off-campus," your conference registration includes all meals and access to the
college recreational facilities. Colorado College maintains a nice list of Bed
& Breakfast's and hotels at:
http://www.coloradocollege.edu/Parents/lodging.asp.
In addition, here are a few suggestions of places that are nearby.

The Broadmoor Resort
This is the 5-Star Resort in Colorado Springs. Fancy,
expensive, and a 20 minute drive from Colorado College, this isn't the most
sensible place to stay for the conference, but nobody ever accused this
luxurious hotel of being sensible! It is glorious.
Black Bear Inn of
Pike's Peak
Located 11 miles from Colorado College. Attendees at previous conferences
reported that this little bed and breakfast was a very nice place to stay.
There are a number of other hotels in Colorado Springs that are convenient if
you have a car. For more information see the following web sites.
Sunday News Travel Site

Hall at the corner of Uintah and Cache La Poudre. The coonference social
and banquet will be held in Palmer Hall, a short walk from Armstrong Hall.
Attendee Comments:
-
This year's conference was in a new location, the same building as the cafeteria. No more 3 flights of steps and classrooms spread all over. Everything was compact, intimate, and took very little effort to get around. When it was raining, we were dry. When it was hot - we were cool. Couldn't ask for more.

Facilities were decent. Very clean and comfortable. Everything was fairly close together so there wasn't a lot of trekking across campus.

The way the meals were set up with the meal cards was a great idea. Worked well! The campus was a good location. Our manager was willing - even encouraged us to go because of the cost. Big selling factor.
